This past week, we had our The Savvy Inspector 3-Day Workshop here in Jasper and I wanted to say Thank You to a few of our Wonderful Jasper Pickens County GA businesses who helped to make our workshop a huge Success.
Anna, Manager at the Microtel Hotel and her staff for helping to make our stay at the Microtel a pleasant experience.
Karen and Amanda at Party Time Sales & Rental for the tent, tables and set up of our tent. This made our evening entertainment so enjoyable.
Adriano Baldelli of Lola Kitchen and Bar who catered our lunch on Thursday and Saturday. On Thursday, he served Penne with chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, & champagne cream sauce and Cheese Tortellini with meat sauce and Parmesan, Lola salad and for dessert: Cannoli. Lunch was a hit!
Cory & her staff at Mary’s Bread Basket for our Friday lunch. We got to choose from Mary’s Awesome sandwiches and salads and everyone raved on their meal. Mary also provided dessert which was cream cheese brownies…Another great hit!
Saturday’s lunch was again provided by Adriano of Lola Kitchen and Bar and it was again, a big hit. We were served Chicken finished in a tomato caper lemon sauce and Chicken Marsala with Lola Salad and the BEST Cheesecake.
Thank You Adriano and Cory/Mary for awesome lunches!!!
For Wednesday evening’s reception, when everyone arrived at the Microtel Hotel, we had Papa Johns pizza delivered twice…the crowd was big and the pizza was definitely a big hit.
Since there was up to 47 people at times, we couldn’t all go out to eat each evening at the same place, so we’d like to say Thank YOU to the restaurants that everyone had the opportunity to enjoy, The Last Catch, Fatz, Ably Asian Cuisine, Biggun’s BBQ, Dos Margaritas, Rocco’s, Lola’s, Bubba Q, Mary Anns, Bonjangles.
And many thanks to Kroger, Trouts Beverage, Ingles, Wal-Mart, CVS, for being there when we needed you.
It is so nice to bring people into our community and hear the nice things they say about where we live. I couldn’t have been more proud of Jasper Pickens County GA!
If this is what you love, then you’ll have to stop by The Last Catch Seaside Dining In The Mountains! Kim and Jim Ryan will treat you right and you’ll totally enjoy whatever fresh seafood your passion is.
This is a story that I mentioned to Kim while Ken and I were enjoying shrimp and beers at her restaurant this afternoon. I told her, which she barely remembered, that ‘way back when’ when The Last Catch was a dream that she and Jim were thinking about, she and I were playing tennis together at Bent Tree. I remember her coming to play tennis one Saturday morning so excited saying they had just acquired a place in Jasper where they were going to start a seafood restaurant…Lo and behold, that was 7 years ago and now The Last Catch is expanding to a larger, more accommodating location at 487 E Church St, Jasper as you are heading south out of Jasper (the old Scott Chan Chinese Restaurant location).
Be sure to keep The Last Catch Seafood Restaurant on your dining list and when you got there, be sure to tell Kim and Jim you saw it on www.JasperPickensCountyGA.com – we truly appreciate it and so will they!!!
This is the 4th Annual A Taste of Pickens, with all profits going to
Pickens’ food pantry, CARES
The 4th annual A Taste of Pickens was held on Saturday, November 14 from 11am to 2:30pm at the Appalachian Technical College in Jasper. What a beautiful day to be out and enjoying wonderful food and friendship! You could not have asked for a better day!
A Big THANK YOU goes out to all the restaurants, caterers, volunteers and to the people who purchased tickets!
26 restaurants and caterers joined together in one place to provide Pickens County residence and others foods that makes them the best of the best! There were soups and pastas dishes, home cooked, comfort foods like mom and grandma provided on Sunday afternoon, there were desserts galore and when you finished, you didn’t walk out – you waddled out!
What a great variety of foods and desserts – you had to make at least one or maybe two trips around the room before you started choosing because if you started choosing your dishes right away, by the time you made your first turn, you would have been out of tickets and out of luck – As the tables all around the room held some excellent food.
After two trips around the room, here is what I ended up choosing –
*The Last Catch – She Crab Soup w/ a splash of Sherry (they were also celebrating their 2nd year in business on this very day! Congrats!!!)
*61 Main – Drunken Mushrooms over Crusty Polenta
*Fireside Cafe’ and Pub – Spinach Cheese dish (yum yum)
*Teresa Fountain, Caterer – Pasta Salad
*Fuego Mexican Grill – Steak and Grilled Chicken Quesadilla/Taco Bar
*Mountainsides Grille @ Big Canoe – Baby Buttermilk Chicken & Buttermilk Pie
*Peking Garden – Chicken Fried Rice/Vegetable Egg Roll
*Mary’s Bread Basket – Red Velvet Cake
Oh my, everything was so very nice and I got to see and talk to a lot of good friends, whom I had not seen in a long time. It was great food and great friends to the max.
What a wonderful event to help the people of Pickens County by some many wonderful people. Thank You for your Support!!!
The next time you are out and about and looking for a good place to eat, try one of these restaurants – who were so very giving of their time and services. You will really be glad that you did.
