Project 2011 – May 30, 2011

Donna Hughes One could only pray if that was their child dying without family around that there could be someone as loving as compassionate by their side as they cross over into Heaven. . .

Joel Gooch I’ve thought the same thing. To have someone that really cares to be there, when no one else can. Good thoughts Donna.

Please pause for a moment today in remembrance of the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. In 1868, May 30th was designated as a day to decorate the graves of fallen service members. If you can’t decorate a grave today, then decorate your profile with the picture below. Enjoy the day with family and friends. Be safe!

Pickens Animal Rescue 2011 Fur Ball

Pickens Animal Rescue announces their
main fundraising event for 2011

Get ready to “Shake Your Paws and Wag Your Tails” at the 5th Annual FUR BALL Fundraiser being held again at Chattahoochee Technical College, on Saturday, November 5th.  This semi-formal gala begins at 6:30pm and includes an exciting Silent Auction, gourmet dinner buffet by Coast2Coast Catering, awards program followed by music and dancing with DJ Jesse Giles.  Also back by popular request, portraits provided by Alvin Stewart Photography and the Heads-or-Tails Bead game.  This event has been a great success and gives our community an opportunity to enjoy themselves while supporting PAR.  Whether you are a dog or cat lover, or just want to show your support while enjoying a night out close to home, make plans now to attend this fun and festive evening.

The first Fur Ball in 2007 was established to celebrate the 10 Year Annviversary of Pickens Animal Rescue and to celebrate the lives of thousands of pets that had been saved by the hard work and commitment of this group’s efforts.  It was also a great way to thank their supporters who contributed to the success of the organization through their volunteerism and their financial support.  The Fur Ball also provided an opportunity to tell the community more about what PAR does and invite their support.  We gathered nearly 200 pet lovers in one place, raised funds for the organization and a great time was had by all who attended!  Because of the incredible support, the Fur Ball is now an annual event.

The Fur Ball is made possible through Sponsor donations. The fundraising portion of this event comes from having an exciting and successful Silent Auction and by those attending.  Go to www.pickensfurball.org to see the list of past Sponsors and event photographs.

“The Fur Ball provides Sponsors an opportunity to show their support for the service that PAR provides to abandoned dogs and cats in our community, while receiving acknowledgement for their donation”, says Susan Catton, Event Coordinator.  “We understand there are multiple opportunities for our local businesses and individuals to donate to other organizations and many receive requests frequently throughout the year.  Keeping in mind our current ecomonic condition, we have many Sponsorhip Levels to fit  donation budgets for 2011.”   Ticket prices for individuals has remained the same at $75.00 per person.  Reduced rates are available for groups reserving tables for 8 or 10 people.

Sponsorship and Silent Auction donations are a great way to market and advertise your business while showing you support for PAR.  Not only will you be included in our vast advertising campaign, you will be listed on our website and in our event program.  Aproximately 200 “animal loving” people have attended this event each year.  To become a Sponsor, contact Susan Catton at 770-894-7037 or [email protected] To donate Silent Auction items, contact Marilyn Pitts at 678-410-8154.  Tickets are now available for sale by mail or on-line @ www.pickensfurball.org.  Additional ticket locations will be available beginning in June.

Pickens Animal Rescue (PAR), is a volunteer, not-for-profit 501c3 Georgia Corporation, established in 1997.  PAR’s mission is to find good, loving homes for the abandoned and abused animals in our community, and to reduce the problem of pet overpopulation through spay/neuter programs.  Since 2000, PAR has found new homes for more than 6,400 pets and has also provided spay/neuter assistance.  PAR maintains a 7 acre, 80 dog and 30 cat boarding facility a.k.a. “The Rescue Ranch” in Talking Rock, their “Rescued Furniture and Thrift Store” on N. Main St. in Jasper, and Pickens Animal Wellness “PAWs on Main” after hours veternarian clinic.  Pickens Animal Rescue is passionate about helping animals in our community.  With your help we’ll continue to successfully care for abandoned dogs and cats in Pickens County in the months and years ahead.

We thank you for your support. More information is available on their website www.pickensanimalrescue.org.

Pickens Animal Rescue

May 16, 2011 by Beth Leave a Comment

We just wanted you to know…

The rescue facility is licensed to provide shelter to 50 dogs and 20 cats and this temporary home is a haven to the thousands that have been helped by this loving, caring group of people. P.A.R. also has a strong, supportive network of private foster care homes that assist in providing care for the dozens of dogs and cats that they receive requests for help with, but are always at full capacity.

If you would like to help or volunteer, please check out the web site at http://www.pickensanimalrescue.org/ and click on Volunteer on the left side.
