As we lead up to the Christmas Eve and Day with Family and Friends, please keep Hans Rueffert and his family in your prayers. He’s going through some tough times right here at Christmas and he definitely needs our Prayers. Prayers to you Hans and your family and to all the people of Pickens County and around Georgia and the whole World, who love you and only want healing prayers for you.
Per Hans: Second hospital “adventure” this month…severe gut pain, unable to swallow for two days +. I tried to convince myself that this blockage would work itself out and I could avoid the hospital, but at some point optimism and reality arrive at an impasse and agree to disagree. Have you ever tried watering your garden with a kink in the hose? No matter how much you cuss, stomp, stammer and gyrate, you eventually have to walk it back and just un-kink the damn hose! With my highly modified/customized GI tract, it becomes WAY more complicated than that, but you get the idea.
After nearly two days of monitoring and medications, the word SURGERY entered the conversation with talks of transferring me and my kinked guts to Atlanta’s Piedmont Hospital. Sadly, there’s just not that much of my GI tract left to make that a simple, straightforward solution. Thankfully, 16 oz of gag-inspiring Gastrografin contrast solution pulled enough liquid into the gut to get the kinked section of intestines straightened out, just before scalpels were sanitized and sharpened.
So now at 4:50 am, pain and stubborn worry are keeping my exhausted brain from sleeping. If the next round of Gastrografin Sunday morning highlights a better image of kink-free guts, I will be home for Christmas. If not…scalpels out.
