I am working from home today and had let Ms Annie out on the lower deck. I decided to step outside and get a breath of fresh air when in the woods, I noticed a momma bear and her two cubs. I ran back inside to get my camera but by the time I got back outside on the deck, they had moved more into the woods.
Here is the picture that I was able to get of the momma bear and one of her cubs.
I love living in the North Georgia Mountains!!!
On July 30, the Bent Tree Foundation wrote to the Bent Tree residents asking for their financial support for C.A.R.E.S. on behalf of children in Pickens County returning to school. We described that C.A.R.E.S., a charity that helps local residents obtain and maintain basic needs for their families, was working hard to give every child in their program a gift card to take shopping before school started on August 3.
We are delighted to report that Bent Tree residents responded generously and provided C.A.R.E.S. with nearly 30% of the total funding they sought for this extremely worthwhile cause. As promised, 100% of every designated donation to the Bent Tree Foundation was transferred directly to C.A.R.E.S.
On behalf of the entire Bent Tree Foundation Board of Directors, thank you for your support. We encourage you to contact us with any questions or if you wish to offer suggestions regarding future Foundation projects.

And was I glad to have been inside…
This morning my little dog, Annie, and I were out on our deck enjoying the early morning and I was taking pictures of the view and the hummingbirds. While out there, I was thinking to myself that we hadn’t seen a bear in a while, and looked around.
I was finished with the pictures so Annie & I went inside and as I was pouring myself another cup of coffee, Annie started barking like crazy. I turned around, and there, on the deck, was Mr. Bear!!!
Thankfully, I had my trusty camera near and got several pictures of Mr. Bear…I love to see them at this distance with the glass door and walls between us; I always have the fear of walking down the road and meeting up with Mr. Bear.
But for now, we can enjoy the pictures of the bears and always remember…
