Spring is in the air and so are offspring. Pickens Animal Rescue currently has more than 20 puppies available for adoption or pre-adoption. These puppies come to us in various ways, needing care and a place to call home. Some come with their mothers and some are completely abandoned. Our volunteer rescue group works on their behalf to provide shelter, health care, spay/neuter surgery and to eventually find them a forever loving family & home.
PAR is a non-profit 501c3 organization who promotes and supports spay and neuter as the most humane and successful method of controlling animal over population. We are a rescue organization rather than an animal shelter, a.k.a. dog pound. We support the lives of the dogs and cats that we rescue until they are adopted. Euthanasia is only performed, by a local veterinarian, in extreme circumstances with regards to unrestorable animal health or if human – animal safety is an issue. We are also working for our community by providing a valuable public service by helping to keep these lost or abandoned pets from roaming our neighborhoods and roadways.
PAR’s spay / neuter program is called SNAP. Pickens County pet owners who need financial assistance to have their dog or cat altered can apply for a $25.00 coupon. Most of our local veterinarian offices will accept these $25 SNAP certificates. Through our fundraising efforts, donations and grants, PAR makes funds available to cover the cost difference in having this procedure performed.
