The Jasper Merchants Association along with the American Legion Post #149 presented to Jasper Police Chief Greg Lovell a check from a fundraiser. Both organizations worked together to raise funds for new bulletproof vests for the Police Officers that serve and protect the citizens and businesses owners of Jasper.
At the time of the presentation on March 2, 2015, the funds raised was just at $9,505.00 of the $11,000 goal. As of the writing of this letter, the Jasper Merchants Association has surpassed our goal and raised a total of $11,829.67. This money raised will go to purchase new bulletproof vests for every single Jasper Police Department Officer.
The Jasper Merchants Association along with the American Legion Post #149 greatly appreciates everyone in Pickens County and the surrounding communities for their generosity to help us reach this goal. Without your support, this could not have been possible.
During the next upcoming City of Jasper Council Meeting on April 6th, 2015, the Jasper Merchants Association will present a plaque to Chief Greg Lovell to be placed at the Jasper Police Department that Thanks all those that have made this fundraiser a success. A plaque will also be presented to Dan of Moore Furniture in memory of Maxine Moore, one of the original founders of the Merchants Association for which we are eternally grateful for all she has done for this small town we call Jasper and for most of us, home.
