Marcas Grubbs ~ Shredder…

March 24, 2014 by BethCompton Leave a Comment

Marcus Grubbs1I have a nephew, Marcas Grubbs, who is my younger sister Sheila Grubbs’ son. I remember him as this little bitty guy who we used to visit every time we went to Indiana. He loved to play basketball but when he was around 10 or so, I really remember him getting into riding these bikes. That’s what I called them but oh no, they are so much more than mere bikes…It is amazing what can be done riding one of these BMX bikes…and how much they cost along with all the accessories to do what they do with them…

Marcas is amazing in what he can do with his bike. It’s like they are almost one in the same. When I watch him in his videos, I’m transfixed and even when I think it can’t be done, somehow he makes it happen. Like I said, it’s like he and his bike are one in the same.

If you’re into the BMX and all the tricks that Marcas and his friends can make their bikes do, you need to watch the videos below. It’s really quite amazing, an art and a talent. These guys definitely have the ability to make things happen with their bikes, but I know it’s not been without a lot of hard work and pain!!!

Congrats Marcas ~ You and your friends Rock!

Information found online and at http://bmx.transworld.net/ and https://www.youtube.com/user/wethepeoplebikebrand

http://bmx.transworld.net/1000191579/videos/link-marcas-grubbs-ch-10/…We already posted up the full The Link video, but I just stumbled onto Marcas Grubbs’ two song section and figured it should get a few more views. I’m a big fan of Marcas’ ability to invert the smallest transitions and plus, he made me laugh for a week straight when we hung out in Mexico.

http://bmx.transworld.net/1000186456/videos/dig-x-marcas-grubbs/ Marcas is one funny ass dude and he can absolutely wrap his bike around his back at any damn moment. Massively entertaining…I didn’t want it to end.

DIG X Marcas Grubbs a BMX video by digbmx

“Marcas Grubbs has been shredding forever. He’s got a unique style with tons of bike control – and inverts on street are always a welcome treat. Charlie Crumlish caught up with Marcas while staying in Austin and put together this edit for us. Make sure to pay attention to the final dunk, the extension is huge! Enjoy.”

Its unfortunate, but I feel like a lot of the local shredders in Austin might fly under the radar due to the high population of legends and super-pros. I am really stoked on this new edit Clint Zabodyn (aka Mag Wheel Guy) put together because it features some good riders who are off the beaten path.

RU Green ~ Reinhardt University

March 22, 2014 by BethCompton Leave a Comment

ru_greenPer Zach White: We want you to help RU Green construct a fort made of Recyclable Cardboard Boxes. Construction will begin at 9am Thursday March 27 at the Reinhardt University. At 4pm, we will recycle Fort Reinhardt in the RU Green Cardboard Recycle Center in the Parking lot between Roberts and Gordy Residence Halls

You can also donate your gently used Shoes and Clothes in the “Captain Reinhardt Gives back” Cardboard Donation boxes in the center of Fort Reinhardt. Everything collected will be donated to the Pickens County Community Thrift Store who provides essential items to needy families in Pickens County.

What a wonderful thing Zach and Reinhardt University are involved in. Doing these kinds of things helps young and old people appreciate and become more involved in helping our Mother Earth. Thanks Zach and Reinhardt University.

Thomas Fountain ~ Who I Am

March 20, 2014 by BethCompton Leave a Comment

Thomas Fountain pic4Thomas Fountain picThomas Fountain ~ simply put is one of the hottest rising Male Country Artists in the state of Georgia. He is quickly following in the footsteps of so many greats that have come from a state known for producing huge country artists. This year Thomas was selected by fans as a Finalist for Georgia Male Country Artist of the Year, 1 of 6 nominees in the state. He is fresh off his first tour in which he played 4 Midwest cities in 3 days. While there, he was the “band of the week” for 96.5 Kiss Country in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he was part of an in-studio interview and got to perform live on the air as well. Thomas has also been interviewed by local stations in his home state of Georgia. 92.5 The Bear in Senoia, GA conducted a live interview and 1 hour show with him. He has also been featured on 94.3 Mountain Country in Blue Ridge, GA in which he also did a live show and interview. The Thomas Fountain Band also made a live TV appearance this year playing for the show “Sessions” on ETC Channel 3 in Ellijay. While playing for the Middle Tennessee District State Fair this year, he did a live TV interview by the East Tennessee PBS. His first single titled “My Lady and Me”, is a song Thomas wrote about the relationship between a musician and his instrument. It has received air play at all the stations mentioned above. It is Thomas’ first single and can be purchased on Itunes. All this success has come in just his first full year as a solo artist.

Thomas is a songwriter and his true love is putting his story into 3:30 minutes of a song. He has won multiple songwriting competitions around Atlanta and has been the featured songwriter at many venues. Thomas has recently starting co-writing and is currently making trips to Nashville to write for independent publishing company, Out-Write Music. He is in the studio in Nashville recording his first all original EP, all songs he has written. A spring release date is planned for the upcoming EP.

The sky is the limit for this young man. He has the voice, looks, writing, and work ethic to make his mark on the music scene very soon. He is packing out everywhere he plays from Georgia to Iowa. His shows are engaging and entertaining no matter what type of audience it is. Whether playing for 20 listeners in a songwriting venue or to over 5,000 screaming fans stage front, Thomas thrives on the connection he makes with his audiences.

Thomas boasts one of the best band line-ups you will find anywhere. His members have opened for the likes of John Mayer and Widespread Panic. They have shared the stage or toured with the Joe Nichols, Phil Vassar, Eddie Money, Blue Oyster Cult, Gretchen Wilson, and .38 Special to name a few. Members have graced the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, Letterman, Leno, Ellen, the CMA’s, and played the biggest arenas all over the world. Thomas attributes a big part of his quick success to his superbly talented band that backs him. It’s his bandmates who believe in him, push him, and give him encouragement to get to where he wants to be. Keep up with his dates on all his social media sites below. Don’t miss your chance to see the next big Male Country Artist to come out of Georgia!

Check out his newest song Who I Am, which he’ll be recording in the next couple of weeks ~ you can definitely say you saw and heard it here on Jasper Pickens County GA!!!
