There is a revolution happening in the farm fields and on the dinner tables of America that is transforming the very nature of the food we eat. A Story by Deborah Koons Garcia – the former wife of Grateful Dead icon Jerry Garcia.
“The Future of Food” gives an in-depth look at the revolution of genetically engineered food and the effect it has on the United States and the world. “The Future of Food” offers a behind-the-scenes look at the unlabeled, patented and genetically engineered food that has fed our families for the past decade. The film explores the health implications, government policies and the globalization of genetically engineered food. Shot on location in the United States, Canada and Mexico, the film gives a voice to farmers whose livelihoods have been controlled by the large agribusiness corporations behind genetically engineered food.
The film concludes with alternatives to eating genetically engineered food and why it is better to feed your family food that is not genetically engineered. Alternatives include eating organic food, buying fresh fruit and vegetables from local farmer’s markets, and community supported agriculture. It describes how people are becoming more aware of genetically engineered food and are seeking answers to solve the problem.

Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning Earns CRI Certification

The Carpet and Rug Institute, or CRI, was founded to promote the development of the carpet industry. They work hand-in-hand with carpets manufacturers, sellers and cleaners in order to establish standards and practices that foster growth and quality service. One of the ways they do this is through the Seal of Approval program.
Carpet cleaning companies can submit their cleaning system to the CRI, who in turn will perform a series of rigorous tests. Their tests cover more than just cleaning power, they also inspect things like carpet wear over multiple cleanings, the pH levels of the products and even re-staining propensity. If a company passes these tests – which isn’t easy – they’ll become a Seal of Approval service provider.
Earning this certification is a sign to customers that a cleaning company can be trusted. That’s why we are proud to announce that Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning now has the CRI’s Seal of Approval! Jonathan Barnett, the president of Oxi Fresh, had this to say:
“I can’t tell you how pleased I was to hear about the CRI’s decision to list Oxi Fresh as one of their approved vendors. We take great pride in both the power and safety of our cleaning system, and to see it recognized like this is a great honor.”
