That is great Brie – the Pickens County Animal Rescue is going to have their hands full but there are a lot of people and other rescues, ie PAR. Big Canoe Rescue, here to help them out. It’s great to live in such a wonderful community.

We adopted out beautiful German Shephard Rae there. They are super nice people at the shelter! I tell people everyday about this place!

Why do we have to wait for a pet to be steralized before we can pick it up after adopting it? Why don’t we have the option of taking the pet to a vet of our choice and bring steralization proof back to the animal shelter in a reasonable time?

I’m a pickens county employee and I have to wait two weeks for my puppy. Not complaining, just curious and grateful to find such a wonderful animal. Also extremely impressed with the animal rescue center!

I’m not sure Steve, when you go in, ask them at the animal shelter. But I’m sure they have protocol they have to follow and that might be just how the system works. Glad you’re adopting a puppy and I know that puppy will have a good home. Thanks for sharing. Maybe you can share pictures of your puppy once you get it home???

The Jasper Animal Rescue is a good place to find a good pet and they are very clean and good with the animals. So if it was me i would pick the Jasper Animal Rescue to find a pet!

That is very kind of you Ericka, I would call the Pickens County Animal Rescue and see if there is something you can do, maybe volunteer or make a donation. But give them a call – Christina Voyles, Director 706-253-8983.

Thank you for your fast response Christina, I have tried contacting Pickens animal rescue via email and by phone for 2 weeks now and still have not heard back from them. I would just like to see if I can in some way help with finding him a forever home before it’s to late. I will call or come by the shelter one day next week to see if there is anything I can do to help!
    Thank you,
